NYC – The Big Apple!

Blog, Travel guide0 comments

It appears in so many films and television shows, a city even if you have never visited before is so familiar.

With various airlines to choose from and many hotels, if you want to stay near Times Square and Central Park or downtown in Soho, Clear Travel has the perfect choices to make your NYC trip a memorable one.

You can fly into either JFK or Newark to access Manhattan. Take a Yellow cab into the city or let Clear Travel book you an airport transfer. New York is the 24/7 city. So many iconic attractions to keep you busy during the day and plenty of bars, restaurants and clubs to keep you busy during the night. And let’s not forget the endless shopping opportunities.

Tourist attractions to visit include Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Wall Street, Central Park, Times Square, Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, United Nations, Chinatown and Little Italy. In the evening take in a Broadway show, drink in the top bars and dine in one of the many amazing restaurants, and if you have the stamina go to one of the many New York clubs until the early hours.

We can book you a scenic helicopter tour of New York, a tour of the sites for the television shows Sopranos and Sex & The City, and your Broadway theatre shows.

Now follow that cab!

California’s West Coast, Highway 1, convertible, hot sunny weather, the Pacific Ocean, stunning scenery, does life get any better than this!

The West Coast road trip is a classic route, which has so many highlights. A possible itinerary could include a starting point of San Francisco, visiting the city’s neighbourhoods of Union Square, Fisherman’s Wharf and Chinatown. Also try to include a visit to San Francisco’s notorious prison Alcatraz and enjoy a ride on the famous cable cars.

Continuing South recommended stops are Santa Cruz, the beach towns of Carmel and Monterey, a visit to Hearst Castle in San Simeon, the Big Sur, the seaside town of Cambria and Santa Barbara, before continuing onto the “City of Angels” – Los Angeles. Los Angeles is a city like San Francisco with fascinating neighbourhoods, including Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Century City, Studio City, Anaheim for Disneyland and of course the LA Beaches including Santa Monica, Venice Beach and Long Beach.

Possible extensions to your trip could include a visit to the Californian Wine region of Napa Valley and Sonoma, stunning walks through Yosemite National Park, a visit to San Diego, or continue the drive onto the entertainment capital of Las Vegas.

Clear Travel’s Charity – 2012

Blog0 comments

We are pleased to announce our nominated charity for 2012 is Duchenne Now.

We are honoured to be associated Duchnne Now and to be able to support this very important and worthwhile charity (Registered Charity No. 1146355)

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a terminal muscle wasting condition. Duchenne is the biggest genetic child killer in the UK. There is currently no viable treatment or cure for Duchenne.
Duchenne Now is a UK charity with international relationships fighting for a cure and viable treatment for Duchenne. Duchenne Now has very clear aims and objectives that will achieve the hopes and dreams of the Duchenne community. We only fund research projects and trials with a clear road map to market. By funding these projects we will make hope an exciting reality to save this generation of children living with Duchenne.

Every penny raised by Duchenne Now goes to funding active research projects and clinical trials.

Duchenne is a devastating muscle wasting condition that leads to paralysis and early death. Children appear to be developing normally but their muscles are constantly wasting away, by an average age of 10 children are in a wheelchair they then loose the use of all their muscles leading to complete paralysis. Degeneration of the lungs means that as the condition progresses children with Duchenne need a ventilator to breath. Your heart is a muscle too. Average life expectancy for children living with Duchenne is late teens.

We aim to get treatments to market that will halt and potentially reverse the effects of this heartbreaking condition. By showing your support you will be making a difference to everybody living with Duchenne.

Joey Levene is only 7 years old; he was diagnosed with Duchenne at 18 months. He is one of the 2500 children living with Duchenne in the UK today (300,000 children world-wide). Every day that goes by the damage is getting worse and his muscles are wasting away. Please help to make a difference to Joey and everybody living with Duchenne. Continue Reading

Journey to South America – Part 2

Blog, Travel guide0 comments

Clear Travel's Top suggestions for stops in South America.

Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is one of South America’s Wonders of the World, this Inca site is located approx. 50 miles from Cusco. Cusco is the main gateway for Machu Picchu and one of the regions tourism centres. Cusco is accessible by plane or long bus journeys from Lima and other major cities. Cusco has many tourist sites to visit and to keep you occupied while you get acclimatised before your journey to Machu Picchu begins.

The Incas began building Machu Picchu around 1400AD and was brought to World attention by Hiram Bingham in 1911. It is a major tourist attraction for Peru and is a very spiritual place with much history and influence that spread out across South America and beyond.

Most visitors travel along the famous Inca Trail to arrive at Machu Picchu a few days later. There are other options and trails available to travel to Machu Picchu. It is recommended if your schedule is tight to pre-book your preferred option as permits are becoming more and more limited. Another alternative is to travel by train from Cusco to the very touristy town of Aguas Calientes before getting the mini-buses very early the next morning to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. Two good reasons to get up very early is first to witness the sunrise across Machu Picchu and secondly to acquire one of the limited tickets to climb Wayna Picchu. It is in part a steep climb but worth the effort to view Machu Picchu from a high and different angle.

A full day exploring Machu Picchu is both exhilarating and exhausting and should not be missed on your visit to Peru.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro is a city does not sleep, so much to offer and to see. Highlights include the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana, Christ the Redeemer, the Maracana football stadium, the infamous Favelas and Sugar Loaf Mountain. As the location for the 2016 Olympics and one of the host cities for the next World Cup there is no better time now or in the coming years to visit Rio. If your journey or holiday to South America can be arranged to coincide with the Rio Carnival or New Year’s Eve you will have an experience you will never forget.

If you are only in Rio for a few days, we can help organise a city tour that will guide you through many of the city highlights. Should you want to visit the renowned Favelas it is important to visit with a reputable tour company to their recommended Favelas only. Other neighbourhoods to visit include Santa Teresa, Lapa and Leblon.

There are regular flights to Rio with many airlines including British Airways, Iberia, Lufthansa, KLM and Air France. Possible add-ons to your visit to Rio de Janeiro could include Sao Paulo, Iguassu Falls, Banos, Ilha Grande and Paraty all accessible by plane or long inter-city bus journeys.

Get ready to sun worship, people watch and party in the great city of Rio.
