As hosts for the next World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, more airlines are now flying to the amazing city of Rio de Janeiro, you can now fly along with British Airways, 3-times a week via Amsterdam with KLM and 5-times a week via Frankfurt with Lufthansa.

Should you want to fly on one of the world’s newest aircraft, All Nippon Airlines (ANA) has started flying the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Frankfurt to Haneda-Tokyo with connections from most UK airports.

Looking for a direct flight to the great country of Vietnam since early December 2011, Vietnam Airlines have been flying direct to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi with further connections to destinations including Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

For all Clear Travel’s corporate clients in 2012, from this summer you will be able to fly direct from Manchester and Birmingham on the daily Lufthansa service to Berlin’s new airport – Berlin-Bradenburg Willy-Brandt airport (due to open in June) with great onward connections.

As United Airlines and Continental continue with their merger when the combined airline will become known as United Airlines using the existing Continental logo and colours, they are investing £350million in improving onboard facilities including flatbeds and upgrading their in-flight entertainment. United Airlines have also recently launched a new direct daily flight from Manchester to Washington Dulles International giving you even more choice to the USA.

If Mexico is your destination of choice for 2012, Virgin Atlantic will be starting a new direct service to Cancun from June, along with Air France who offers 3 flights a week from Paris and British Airways who have recently increased their flights from 2 to 3 flights a week.A further new service with Virgin Atlantic and a good gateway to North America’s West Coast is their new direct 4-times a week flight from London Heathrow to Vancouver starting from 24th May.

And finally, news on the ever expanding airline alliances, first the Oneworld alliance with members including British Airways, Qantas and Cathay Pacific has 2 new members planning to join in 2012. They include Air Berlin and Malaysia Airlines. Secondly the Skyteam alliance with members including Air France, Czech Airlines and KLM has welcomed China Airlines and China Eastern Airlines to the alliance. Thirdly the Star Alliance with members including Lufthansa, United Airlines and Air New Zealand has added Ethiopian Airlines to their membership.
